The Design Brief that is shown in the picture to the left helps show what constraints and criteria. The opportunity states that the company wants to be able to improve company brand loyalty. It helps understand the process.
Concepts
The design chosen was the better for the costumer to fit his personality and to fit the constraints that my company had given me from the start of this process. Now after the fact it was chosen we still had some design issues as in making the ball on the plate right or maybe just simple as in spacing the lettering right to fit the hole between his name. This was the best option for the hole time constraint and also the material use was low. We didn’t spend much time on the designing other then fixing dimensions and placement and having to make sure it looked right. I thought it was also a good option for my costumer because it would be in time constraint and is easily able to design and not a lot of material is used.
Develop Solution.
Construct and Test.
It took around 15 minutes to make my 3D printed charm.
Evaluate Solution.
I meet criteria and constraints by using my time to the best of my abilities, and also helping with making sure my customer is happy with their personal design. Meaning revisions have been made to the customers liking, but also to the constraints. Such as volume was below the constraints and the hole was .25 inches away or more from the edge of the charm and their is great spacing in the hole for the key chain to go through.
Present Solution.
The final product was built under my design statement because i have loop, i have a manufacturing time worthy process, and it some sort of pleasable. My paint job might not be the best but i made my design pleasable. I met with all the criteria and constraints give to me in my design brief and followed that as my basis for my design. The customer was satisfied with his design, but said the paint could have been better because the letter made the “vibe” of it go off. Resources and time could be used better such as asking the customer more or less what they would like on it not just basing it off of questions about them because there would be less fixing and revising the design. Model 1: was a home plate with a glove, baseball & baseball bat, Golf club & golf ball this was made because these are the sports the customer played, was used because it was apart of who the person was because of the sports they played. Model 2: was made of a circle and a fishing pole with a fish, then a bow this was because the costumers hobbies were fishing and bow hunting such as those are things he liked to do. Model 3: was something i just tried to come up with, was made up of a square with a hat that had a deer on it with his name and birth year. I made the deer because he liked to hunt as a hobby and then he also said he liked wearing hats. I also put his name and birth year to make the charm more significant. I learned that it is going to be a long process to be able to customize and build a charm to each and every customer, because simplying it down will help with the process moving such as, time crunch and material use and also instead of guessing what they want on their charm they tells us so it’s a faster process for everyone.
